An Exceptional Lecture at the University of Sharjah Brings Together Architectural Art and Arabic Calligraphy.
The Department of Architectural Engineering hosted a distinguished lecture titled "Blending Architecture and Arabic Calligraphy: Artistic Creativity in Villa Diwani." The lecture featured the prominent Emirati designer Hisham Al Mazloum, moderated and organized by Dr. Aref Maksoud and Dr. Aseel Hussein.
The lecture took place in the Al-Biruni Hall at the university, attended by the Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering, Professor Dr. Emad Mushtaha, and a group of faculty members from the Department of Architectural Engineering. It witnessed a large attendance of architectural engineering students and fine arts enthusiasts. The lecture covered various aspects related to the intersection of architectural art with Arabic calligraphy, through the presentation of the Emirati designer Hisham Al Mazloum's project, Villa Diwani, which is considered a distinctive example of this artistic interaction. Al Mazloum explained to the audience the details of his artistic project and his vision in embodying traditional Arabic aesthetics in a contemporary context. He passionately discussed the process of combining elements of modern architectural engineering with the unique aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy, highlighting the challenges and innovations he encountered during the design and implementation of the project.
