Discover Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences

The Department of Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences delivers the program using a problem-based learning (PBL) approach, complemented by formal lectures and hands-on practical sessions. This method ensures a well-rounded educational experience, offering dynamic and creative learning opportunities across all essential areas of dental practice. The curriculum builds clinical skills from the outset through the Dental Clinical Practice stream, integrating various disciplines to form the foundation of each PBL case. With a dedicated team of highly experienced faculty, the department fosters an engaging and inspiring learning environment that nurtures a passion for lifelong learning.

The curriculum is structured around two main tracks: Human Biology and Dental Health Sciences. The Human Biology track introduces students to gross and histological anatomy, alongside the basics of classical and molecular genetics. It then progresses to studies of human structure and function, head and neck anatomy, neuroanatomy, and the manifestation of diseases. The Dental Health Sciences track covers a broad range of subjects essential to dental practice, including oral anatomy, preventive dentistry, patient-dentist communication, oral histology and embryology, oral biochemistry, dental occlusion, masticatory function and disorders, human growth and development, orthodontics, and relevant aspects of pharmacology, medicine, and surgery.

The faculty's expertise across these integrated tracks significantly enriches both clinical education and foundational dental sciences, aligning with the development of clinical skills from the beginning of the program. This approach ensures that students gain a deep understanding of both the scientific and practical aspects of dentistry, preparing them for a successful career in the field.
