Design for Future Higher Education 2024
Overview
The competition offers an open platform for students to actively participate in developing creative ideas to promote innovative applications, practices, and solutions in education.

Registration deadline for the Design for Future in Higher Education Student Competition has been extended. Participants now have until 18 March 2024 to submit their project ideas and proposals.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time UoS students who are enrolled for the current academic year. Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply.
- The innovative project/idea can be developed individually or as a team work.
- The team members should not exceed 5 students.
- The project must be new and originally developed by the participants.
Prizes
Fifteen winners will be chosen across five categories. In each category, there will be a first-place winner, a second-place winner, and a third-place winner.

Submission Requirements
The final design/project must be submitted in the form of:
- Research Poster (A1 size,841x594mm) that provides a summary explaining the innovative idea and solution.
- Proof of Concept/Originality - This can be in the form of a video explanation to demonstrate the design, mockup, prototype, or minimal viable product. The final exhibition will be held on campus and participants will be provided with a booth to exhibit their work.
Judging Criteria
Problem Statement Awareness
Your project should have a clear and focused purpose, clearly identifying its contribution to the field of study. It needs to propose a testable solution using scientific methods, describe a practical need or problem, set criteria for the solution, and explain any constraints.
Design and Methodology
Ensure a well-designed plan with defined variables and controls. Explore different alternatives to address the problem and identify a solution. Develop a prototype or model that aligns with the project's objectives.
Execution/ Integration of Technologies
Data Collection, Analysis & Interpretation:Systematically collect and analyze data, ensuring reproducibility of results. Apply appropriate mathematical and statistical methods, supporting interpretations with sufficient data.
Innovation/Creativity
Display significant creativity across the criteria mentioned above.
Research Poster Presentation
Poster:Organize content logically with clear graphics and supporting documentation.
Interview:Provide clear, thoughtful responses displaying an understanding of basic science relevant to the project. Address the interpretation and limitations of results. Demonstrate independence in conducting the project and recognize its potential impact. For team projects, ensure all members contribute to and understand the project.
Workshop
Groups/students with promising project/ideas proposals will be invited to attend workshops aimed at refining their projects. These workshops will provide valuable guidance and support as they prepare for the final event.
