Vision

To lead research on developing smart, sustainable and resilient systems, technologies and infrastructure to promote sustainable development, protect the environment and combat climate change in service of the community.

Mission

To serve the community through advancing knowledge and providing sustainable solutions and technologies and enhancing infrastructure in the built environment in the areas of:

  • Resources conservation, environmental protection, and desalination water treatment systems.
  • Construction materials, and resilient civil infrastructure system.
  • Engineering asset management.

Objectives

The initial objectives of the center are as follows:

  • Conduct basic and applied research and development activities in the main research areas of the center.

  • Advance current knowledge through publication of research findings in high quality journals and international conferences.

  • Provide services to the community through developing and proving solutions, products, systems, policies, software, decision-support systems and specialized training opportunities.

  • Develop strategic partnerships and exchange programs with leading government, business and industry and academic organizations locally and internationally.

  • Engage in research and development activities aligned with the strategic plans of Sharjah, UAE and the Region.

  • Train graduate & undergraduate students, research assistants and post-doctoral fellows.
