Department Overview
Mission: The mission of the Research Funding Department is to implement the vision of the University of Sharjah in promoting distinguished, high-standard research.
Goal: The goal of the RFD is to provide high-quality services to faculty to create an environment that encourages and facilitates sustainable research within the University of Sharjah.
Support and Services: The RFD is responsible for administration of research project funds at both pre-award and post-award stages. The department provides support to research projects by faculty and students, research groups, and research centers and facilitates the procurement of research funding as well as the publication of research works. Compliance: The department oversees internal and external research funding to ensure compliance with university bylaws and regulations and supports the operations and management of approved research projects
Department Tasks:

Process all grant applications in coordination with the University Research Institutes.

Work directly with the research fund holders to ensure compliance with university bylaws and regulations.

Process internal and external funds: select and contact research project referees, monitor project expenditure, and facilitate the purchase of equipment.

Track the progress of research projects, ensuring deadlines are met, project outcomes are achieved, and final reports are submitted.

Support the management of approved research projects, assisting with purchasing, fund reallocation, and responding to researchers' inquiries and requirements.

Maintain an online database of research activities: research grants history, refereeing results, project budgets, project investigators, and grant applications.

Maintain a database of all purchased research assets, including software and equipment.

Create and maintain an electronic database of referees.

Assist faculty in grant writing and prepare reports of research activities.

Maintain and provide the necessary forms and information for the research activities: research funding application, part time research assistant, student research project support, research project extension application, fund for books, fund for consumable, fund for equipment, faculty development grant application (conferences, training, courses, summer visit), visiting scholar application, project progress, project final report, book publishing, best research paper, best master and bachelor research award, and research group registration.
