1.Oral Radiology Unit

This Unit serves all the clinics in the UDHS and operates at the same timings as the different clinics to grant smooth and consistent service. The services are offered by using the latest X-ray modalities. A state-of-the-art CBCT machine provides 3-Dimensional X-ray images which enable the care health providers to easily diagnose and plan the treatment for their patients utilizing sophisticated programs and technology. Panoramic X-ray machines are available to provide 2-Dimensional X-ray images which are indispensable as a scout image tool in patients’ diagnosis and treatment planning. The very basic and essential intra-oral X-rays are granted using two intra-oral X-ray machines, which serve as a backup to the other intra-oral X-ray machines throughout the clinics. The department strictly follows FANR regulations regarding ionizing radiation protection which ensures maximum radiation safety for patients and operators. Radiology services are offered under the supervision of two Oral Radiology Specialists and three X-ray Technicians.

2. Electronic Health Records (axiUm)

axiUm is an advanced dental academic software. UDHS is the first College/Hospital in the Middle East to implement this software. axiUm was developed specifically for the needs of academic institutions in addition to its being a platform for electronic record keeping. From chair-side to front-end, axiUm lays the foundation for successful operations and learning at academic institutions. axiUm is a modular software for patient management, electronic health recording, student evaluation and grading, patient education, clinical research along with financial and administrative management. 
Using axiUm in our College and Hospital as an academic software tool allows educators to experience a seamless integration between student and course management tasks and give their students and their patients, high-quality evidence-based oral health services from the one side and highly recognized education level on the other.

3. Dental Technology Laboratory 

Dental laboratory technology is the art, science, and technology of designing and manufacturing corrective devices for and replacements of natural teeth. A dental laboratory technician communicates and collaborates with the dentist to plan, design, and fabricate dental prostheses for individual patients. Dental laboratory work 4 days per week 10 hours per day.

4. Central Sterilization Services Department (CSSD)

The fundamental role of our CSSD is to receive, clean, decontaminate, package, and sterilize medical devices and surgical instruments that can be distributed to clinics. These instruments are reprocessed according to a standardized process, such as washer-disinfector and sterilizers that are routinely maintained and validated in order to prevent cross-contamination and infection to patients. This is achieved by well-trained and qualified staff working in CSSD under the supervision of trained supervisors who understand and implement strategies for risk management and quality assurance. Centralizing the reprocessing of reusable devices helps ensure uniform standards of practice, while also providing an improved workflow (soiled, clean, sterile). Our CSSD staff is knowledgeable about the standards, complexities, challenges, risks, and techniques associated with the CSSD function. Every CSSD task we perform takes into consideration the welfare and safety of our patients, co-workers, and the community. we are using T-DOC advanced technology for scanning and tracing instruments. More importantly here that the T-DOC system improves the “patient safety” as well as ensures true support is delivered to the CSSD personnel to prepare the right item(s) for the right procedures with the correct content. The total number of staff in CSSD is five.  And the working hours are from Monday to Thursday 07:30 AM to 05:30 PM.
