His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, conveyed the congratulations of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, to 16 distinguished faculty members who have been promoted to higher academic ranks. The promotions were recently approved by the University’s Board of Trustees, chaired by His Highness, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to research, teaching and learning, and community service.

During the ceremony held in their honor, the Chancellor praised the newly promoted academics, emphasizing that these advancements mark the culmination of a career dedicated to academic excellence and scholarly achievement. He commended their research endeavors, particularly their publications in high-impact international journals, as well as their commitment to innovative teaching methodologies and their role in enriching the University’s academic environment. He further highlighted their contributions to services to both the University and the wider community.

His Excellency Prof. Al Naimiy described these promotions as a new milestone in the academic journeys of the honorees, urging them to continue their pursuit of excellence and innovation in the service of knowledge and scholarship. He underscored the importance of directing scientific research towards addressing pressing societal challenges through rigorous academic inquiry. Stressing the significance of research quality, he encouraged faculty members to engage students in research projects, equipping them with essential research skills and methodologies to nurture the next generation of scholars.

Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; and Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical and Health Sciences Colleges and Dean of the College of Medicine, all expressed their delight at the promotions. They extended their congratulations and gratitude to the faculty members for their contributions to academia and the University, wishing them continued success in their academic careers. 

Promotion to the rank of full professor were awarded to Prof.  Ali Cheaitou, Prof. Anis Allagui, Prof. Bashria Abdrub Alrasoul Yousef, and Prof. Saleh Abu Dabous from the College of Engineering; Prof. Asad Aburumman, from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Prof. Faridahwati Mohd Shamsudin from the College of Business Administration; Prof. Ayssar Nahle from the College of Sciences; Prof. Nabeel Al-Yateem from the College of Health Sciences; and Prof. Wael Mohamed Talaat Taha from the College of Dentistry.

Meanwhile, promotions to the rank of associate professor were conferred upon: Dr. Syed Abidur Rahman and Dr. Ijaz Ur Rehman from the College of Business Administration; Dr. Mohamed Hamad from the College of Health Sciences; Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mahmoud Albreem and Dr. Ridvan Aydin from the College of Engineering; Dr. Madou Gaye Sylla from the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies; and Dr. Marwan Al-Momani from the College of Sciences.
