University of Sharjah Signs MoU with the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations (the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly) to Foster Student Exchange Collaboration

The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Eurasian and African Peoples’ Assembly. The agreement aims to promote academic cooperation, facilitate student exchanges, and organize scientific conferences, seminars, and cultural and social activities. The MoU was signed by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and His Excellency Prof. Andrey Yurievich Belyaninov, Secretary-General of the Assembly, during a high-level delegation visit to the University.

At the signing ceremony, Prof. Al Naimiy welcomed the partnership, conveying the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University. He emphasized the University's commitment to fostering international collaboration and expanding scientific relations with academic and research institutions worldwide. Prof. Al Naimiy also highlighted the University's recent achievements in academic research and its 133 academic programs offered across various disciplines, supported by state-of-the-art research laboratories.

In response, Prof. Belyaninov expressed his delight in visiting the University of Sharjah and provided an overview of the assembly, which was established in 2017. He described it as an international coalition of non-governmental organizations dedicated to promoting Eurasian integration, peacebuilding, friendship, and neighborly relations among peoples. The association aims to create a broad platform for dialogue between civil society organizations and authorities to enhance harmony, unity, and shared values across Eurasian nations. Prof. Belyaninov expressed eagerness to collaborate with the university, facilitate student exchanges with member countries, and organize scientific conferences and cultural and social youth activities.

The MoU outlines provisions for enhancing collaboration in cultural and social areas, organizing joint conferences and seminars, exchanging academic staff for research visits, developing scientific knowledge, and conducting training workshops and other initiatives. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both sides, including: Prof. Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Dr. Amina Al Marzouqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Prof. Abdulaziz Sofyan, Director of International Relations at the University of Sharjah. Representing the association were, Ms. Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary-General, Dr. Yasser Laham, Head of Sustainable Development and Advisor to the Secretary-General, Ms. Oksana, Director of the Eurasian Center for Equestrian Heritage, and Culture
