His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Attends the Annual Alumni Association Ceremony of the University of Sharjah
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah attended the annual Alumni Association ceremony held in the University City’s outdoor court.
During his speech, His Highness highlighted that the University of Sharjah's reputation has reached 116 countries through a network of ambassadors comprising over 46,000 graduates. Welcoming the alumni, His Highness expressed gratitude to the University’s community and to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, founder of the University, for enhancing the University’s reputation on the global platforms. He conveyed his pride in the gathering and emphasized the significant role the University’s alumni play in achieving its continued success.
His Highness added, "A few years ago, we directed the University and the Alumni Association to go beyond merely organizing annual events by adopting innovative ideas to enhance communication. This directive has resulted in establishing alumni branches in several countries, organizing reunions for the alumni of various colleges, hosting workshops and interactive seminars, and even holding an international conference." His Highness praised the efforts of the Alumni Association, emphasizing the importance of continuity, stating, “I must stand before you today to commend all that you have achieved and to extend my heartfelt thanks, gratitude, and appreciation to each one of you. I also urge the administration of the University of Sharjah to continue what they have started by conducting brainstorming sessions that include all alumni, using every available means to generate innovative ideas. Through these efforts, we aim to outline a clear and impactful role for the University's alumni, enabling them to be genuine partners in realizing the University's vision and mission.” Concluding his speech, His Highness reaffirmed his pride in the University’s alumni and their achievements across diverse fields, reminding them that they remain an integral part of the University of Sharjah’s family.
His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al-Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah praised Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his continued support and keen interest in promoting the University to become a leading academic institution locally and globally. He noted that His Highness’s presence at the event underscores his commitment to UoS alumni and their role in enhancing the University’s reputation.
Addressing the graduates, expressed pride in their accomplishments, describing them as symbols of success and a bright reflection of the university. He emphasized the institution’s strategic plans aimed at further achievements, focusing on Emiratization, academic excellence, scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation. His excellency elaborated on the University’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and technology into its curricula and training programs, preparing students to meet market demands. He reiterated the University’s commitment to equipping students and alumni with knowledge and practical skills in AI and its applications across various sectors.
He also highlighted the University’s continuous efforts to establish partnerships with the public and private sectors to secure distinguished job opportunities for graduates and to offer tailored programs to support aspiring entrepreneurs, fostering their projects into successful ventures.
His Excellency Prof. Al-Naimiy concluded his address by wishing the alumni continued success, emphasizing that they are role models in integrity, creativity, responsibility, and adherence to values and principles. He reassured them that the University of Sharjah’s doors remain open to all its alumni offering them support and consultation.
The ceremony featured a performance by students from the Sharjah Academy for Performing Arts and a musical segment by alumnus Hamad Mousa Al Ali. In addition, Prof, Amr Awadallah, an expert in artificial intelligence, delivered an informative talk on AI and its significance, wide-ranging applications, and transformative impact on technology. He provided a live demonstration, showcasing AI’s ability to execute various commands in multiple languages and dialects, offering impressive results that benefit users academically and professionally.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi honored sponsors and supporters of the Alumni Association, thanking them for their generous contributions and wishing them success. His Highness also visited the alumni entrepreneurial exhibition, showcasing products supported by the Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneering Entrepreneurs (Ruwad). He engaged with the participants, encouraging them to persevere in their endeavors and assuring them of the University’s full support.
